Hibiscus tea, also known as Agua de Jamaica and by its scientific name Hibiscus sabdariffa is prepared by boiling parts of the hibiscus plant. Hibiscus tea is ruby red or deep magenta in color and has a sour taste. Coming from Africa, the hibiscus, flower nicknamed “guinea sorrel,” is a plant naturally rich in virtues that benefit our skin and hair when used topically as well as our overall health when drinking it as a tea. Mask with hibiscus flower petals: Put a few calyxes in a bowl containing half a glass of water for 10-15 minutes (so that they become more tender). Water will change to a deep burgundy color, mix everything in a blender to obtain a paste, apply to face, Finally, let stand for at least 30 minutes before washing. Apply this mask regularly, once a week before your shampoo. If not using a preservative, keep refrigerated between uses. Will last for about 2 weeks. Can be used daily

Hibiscus Infused oil: Place a few calyxes in 4-8 oz Olive oil (or preferred oil of your choice)1/4 tsp of Vitamin E oil in a mason jar. Place mason jar in a dark dry place for 1-2 weeks. Transfer Hibiscus infused oil to an appropriate bottle for use. Can be applied to hair & scalp 1 per day. A little goes a long way.
Hibiscus cup of tea to drink: Bring 8oz of water to a boil; Remove from heat, add 1 teaspoon of tea (you should be smelling the aroma at this point) cover and steep for 7-10 minutes. Sweeten to taste. Enjoy the Wealth of Good Health!
